New Wave Pier Dog Run: opening this week!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
Kona here again, reporting to you from the East River Esplanade’s New Wave Pier. The team at NYC Parks are doing a wonderful job of putting the dog run together. They are working over the break to put the final touches (couple more adjustments to the fencing, adding benches and trash bins). But it’s not ready to be opened just yet. But we estimate the run can start accepting our furry friends as early as next week!
New Wave Pier Dog Run (East River Esplanade)
Location: FDR Dr. bet. E. 36 St. and E. 41 St. Manhattan
Opening date: Small dog run Nov 28th, large dog run Nov 29th
Dog Run Design
The dog run is going to have two sections: general dogs (125ft long), and small dogs (80ft long).
When it’s ready to open, it will have benches and trash bins. Both ends of the park will have doggie bag dispensers
Show your support
This would not be possible without the support of the community, Council Member Keith Power’s office, Assemblymember Harvey Epstein, NYC Parks, NYPD’s 17th precinct and to those who volunteered.
Get ready to sit on the benches, looking towards the river while our furry friends enjoy their neighborhood’s first dog run. Let’s make this a successful dog run!
